Fashion Question

When is it time to wear white shoes? The other day my sister commented she hadn’t gotten a white purse for Easter. I told her you don’t wear white until Memorial Day. She said the correct start date for white accessories is Easter. When do you start to wear white accessories? Do these fashion “rules” even matter?

It seems to depend on where you live. When I moved to New York from Texas, I wore white shoes after Easter, only to be told that was far too early, and I should wait till after Memorial Day. When I went to General Conference (late September, early October), don’t remember where, I very carefully took dark shoes. First thing I saw was someone walking around in white shoes! Where I live now, you can pretty much wear what you want. Probably wouldn’t wear white shoes for Christmas, though.

I grew up “up North” (Ohio) with a mom who hailed from Michigan, and the rule I learned was to only wear white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Of course, some years in Ohio it was snowing on Easter…
