Fingers

Have you ever watched a baby study its fingers? To that little one, fingers are the most fascinating thing in the world. I got to thinking about fingers recently and how they serve us in so many ways.

We use our fingers to pick up things. We use them to separate pages in a book. Fingers, when snapped, can summon a waiter or a taxi. You can rake through your hair with your fingers. Buttons go in buttonholes because you use your fingers.

I think perhaps fingers are the model for some earthmoving equipment. Take a look the next time you see a big piece of construction machinery taking bites out of the earth. See the front edge; it looks like fingers.

The Bible says we’re fearfully and wonderfully made. If you consider your various parts — like your fingers — you have to say Amen to that.
