I Need A Vacation

I need a vacation.  It doesn’t have to be long … just a day or two would do.  Where would I go?

I’ve been thinking about the Laura Ingalls Wilder farm in Mansfield, MO.  Mansfield would be about 3 or 4 hours drive so almost perfect for a mini-vacation break.  I even got so far as looking up hotels, etc.  But, alas, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to do it.

Why, you ask?  I got a call from the pharmacy late yesterday telling me that I have a prescription to pick up.  Cost would be $225.  Yikes!  I don’t know what that could be or why it’s so expensive.  My suspicion is that it’s my diabetes medicine and that I’ve fallen into the doughnut hole in Medicare extra early this year.  My eye surgery with its associated eye drops have upped my expenditures considerably.  I don’t even want to think about the cost of replacing my eyeglasses in a couple of weeks.

I’m off to collect the prescription after I ask if there is a generic version.  I certainly can’t afford to continue taking this one.

Oh, that’s too bad! The farm sounds really interesting. I remember stopping at one of the Laura Ingalls Wilder historical sites – I think it was in Iowa – and it was really fun and interesting. I read all the books several times when I was a kid.

(I’ll have to remember that farm for the future when I want to take a couple-days trip somewhere.)
