Being Lazy

I have really been lazy this week. I woke up at 4 a.m. on Tuesday feeling sick and feverish so I called my supervisory election judge and reported I would not be in to work the election. Instead I went back to bed and slept the day away. I voted absentee when I went to the training session so I didn’t feel guilty about missing the election.

Wednesday I was scheduled to be one of the speakers at the quarterly reading tutors’ meeting so I managed to go to that. But I arrived 30 minutes late which wasn’t good. I briefly talked about how I handle my sessions with a student. I’m not sure anyone got anything out of it other than a case of envy that I’m given an hour with my student. Most of the ones there only get 30 minutes.

One of the new=to=me tutors had prepared a lesson on clouds using The Cloud Book. She offered the handout materials so I took some plus the book home with me. She nearly went into panic because the book was a library book. No amount of reassurance on my part that I would return the book to the library seemed to satisfy her. Several emails later, I think she’s calmed down. Unfortunately I had to tell her my student wasn’t excited by the book or the project.

So, other than going to the school to tutor and library to return the Cloud book on Thursday, I’ve accomplished very little other than reading. I’ve written out a to-do list but haven’t managed to cross off many things on it. I did manage to re-activate my TracPhone yesterday. What an ordeal that was! I’m sure the person I was speaking to was overseas somewhere because I had to keep repeating things or him. Then he’d go quiet for long stretches of time and I’d wonder if we were still connected. I think it took almost 30 minutes to get my phone working again.

What have you accomplished this week?
