It was with some surprise that I heard on the news that the Recorder of Deeds in St. Louis resigned. She has held that job since 1980, I think. In the same news broadcast about her resignation, it was reported that she plans to run for office again in the August election.
As best as I can figure it out, the resignation was prompted by a charge of nepotism. What I’m confused about is if the nepotism is the basis for her resignation, won’t it interfere with her being eligible to run for office in August? Since she’s held that office for so long, I doubt there’s anyone who can mount a viable campaign against her. It will be interesting to see how this all works out.
