Signs of Spring

Spring is slowly coming to my area.  That is sometimes had to believe when you wake up to snow on the ground but, thankfully, it wasn’t much snow and it all melted away by late afternoon.  There are signs of spring in the yard.  The tulips are bravely poking above ground even though the forsythia hasn’t shown one sign of blooming yet.  Another indication of spring is the broken spots on the street outlined in orange paint.  This lets the subdivision people know where they have to repair the streets once we get through pothole season.  Fixing the streets is an annual chore and I’m thankful the people on the board of my subdivision are diligent about this.  Otherwise, our tires, wheel alignments, etc., are nearly destroyed from bouncing from one pothole to another.  This winter which seems so endless will one day be over.

Wow, just a couple hundred miles south, my forsythia is nearly done blooming….

It’s still kind of chilly and we still could get a freeze. I planted one row of beet seeds this weekend (they can take the cold) but am going to wait a bit longer to put the beans in.

Your forsythia are not the only ones slow to bloom. Some folks in Ohio are mentioning the same thing. I am glad that you are seeing real signs of spring!

I have spring flowers popping up BUT we have not yet had our winter! Crazy weather patterns worldwide.
