Today is the first day of Winter and it feels like it, especially after yesterday. The high temperature yesterday was 71. Today it won’t get above 35. We woke to freezing rain but the temp crawled over freezing (32 F) so that has melted. It’s raining now, a cold miserable rain. The wind goes right through you with its damp cold. The rain is to continue through the night and maybe change to snow tomorrow. Yes, winter has arrived.
I’m grateful for a furnace that works to keep my house warm, blankets for my bed so I can sleep in comfort, and sweaters to wear for warmth. I think about the homeless who don’t have those things. I pray that they can find shelter out of the weather and somehow keep warm and dry. It’s easy to overlook the everyday blessings we enjoy.
