It’s Unnerving

I don’t really listen to sports broadcasts. The radio plays in the background most days and if a game comes on, so be it. But lately I’ve noticed a trend that I find unnerving.

I’ll be going about my business and all of a sudden I hear a voice on the radio that I know is no longer among us. Frequently it is of a much beloved radio announcer who, if he’s announcing games today, is doing the ones in Heaven pitting the Angels against the Demons. It really unnerves me when this happens.

It turns out the radio station plays episodes from their archives during rain delays. Don’t know why the current announcers can’t just chat during that time but maybe they run out of things to say.

Do the stations where you live do this? What do you think of the practice?
