The other day I was in an area where a clot of people was forming. Some were standing have a conversation. Others were wanting to pass them to get to a door but they couldn’t pass them or go through them. I made a comment that we needed to put up a stoplight.
At that point, a nearby man asked me if I knew why we called it a stoplight. Why don’t we call it a go-light since we can go as well as stop at one? I didn’t have an answer. Do you?
I think more correctly they are called traffic lights but most folks — at least the ones I know — call them stoplights. Do you make a distinction between stoplights and traffic lights?
