Have you ever given thought to how you will be described after you die? This thought has occurred to me but never as much as this week.
Stan Musial, a baseball player in St. Louis, passed away. The newspaper has been full of stories about him, about what a good ball player he was, what a fine civic citizen he was, how he loved his family and his church and so on and so forth. The line which made the biggest impact for me was found in an account of his funeral which was today.
A grandson was speaking on behalf of the family and quoted someone else who said that “he made nobodies feel like they were somebodies.”
I wonder: Is that how I make people feel? If not, can I start now so that when I’m gone I’m remembered as fondly as Stan Musial?
