This morning I had the radio on my usual radio station which gives me news, traffic reports, weather forecasts, etc. This morning they almost couldn’t fit that in around all the political ads they were running. These weren’t candidates who have been campaigning hard all summer. These were candidates I had never heard of!
Where have these folks been? Why have they waited so long to make their push to get elected? I suppose it’s because they figure the last heard ad is the one best remembered when you go to the polls so you’ll vote for them. But waiting until less than a week before the election to air your ads is, in my opinion, a waste of your ad money. I don’t have time to research your position, especially since I have never heard of you. So you won’t be getting my vote.
It’s a moot point for me because I’ve already voted. I went to election judge training last Friday and while there, voted an absentee ballot. That’s one less thing I have to worry about on Tuesday. Just getting everything ready so I can get up at 4 a.m. to go to the polls is enough work for my — at that time — still sleepy brain. It’s nice to know I cast my vote while I was awake enough to know what I was doing.
