I’m not sure the peeve is strong enough to be a pet peeve but it annoys me nevertheless.
There is a knitting database I suppose you call it or perhaps website is the correct term called Ravelry. It has thousands of members who post pictures of their stash, list their library books, make queues of completed and want-to-knit projects and heaven only knows what else. I am not a member of that group. I feel like it’s just another way to spend hours upon hours on the computer. I do enough of that already.
So what’s my peeve with it? I read a lot of blogs, some knitting and some not. People reference a project they’re working on or have just completed. They provide a link. But the link takes me straight to Ravelry and since I’m not a member, I can’t see their project. I wish they’d link to a designer’s website or a magazine where the pattern appeared. As long as I’m being stubborn about not joining Ravelry, I’ll just have to be in the dark … unless they post a picture of the completed project.
In the meantime, I’m working on a cowl. I have a new job as one of the knitting instructors at my local JoAnn’s. The projects are assigned to us and this is one of two that I’ll be teaching in September.
