There’s been a sort of local story in our newspaper which has left me puzzling over it. First, it was the report that a three-year old girl was missing. She was last seen riding her bicycle. Where could such a young girl go without someone noticing her?
After about four or five days, part of her bicycle was found but little girl’s body was still missing. Eventually, a neighbor was arrested. He had smothered the little girl by putting a plastic bag over her head. Then he threw her body in a floodway ditch. The stated reason for his actions was that he found her on the ladder to his swimming pool.
Granted, she shouldn’t have been there. But couldn’t he have dealt with the situation in another way? Why did he have to kill her? That seems like a strange reaction.
