I love to read. Like most people, I have favorite authors and will re-read their books with the same amount of enjoyment as I had the first time through. The last two weeks have found me re-reading some of the M.C. Beaton’s Hamish MacPherson books. I have wondered how an author who writes a series does it. How does he/she keep the characters straight from one book to the next?
When I find a new-to-me author who has written a series, I want to read them all, one after another. I think that must mean I am a reading glutton. A recent favorite author is Laura Childs who has written — as far as I know — three different series. I’ve read some of all of them. How she can keep from mixing up the characters from one series with another is beyond me.
I’m brokenhearted that Borders is going out of business. They’ve having a big discount on books and I just wish I had a lot of money so I could stock up on my favorite authors. My knitting group met at the local Borders’ cafe and I don’t know where we’ll go now. I’m already missing the yummy brownies and oatmeal raisin cookies. Do you suppose we could be luck enough to become a Books-A-Million store?
