Last December when I had the heating company come to service the furnace, I was given the news that I needed to replace my system. So I took some money out of my retirement fund and invested in a new heating/air conditioning system … just in time to get the tax credit for it and small refunds from the utility company.
Of course, in December it was too cold to test the air conditioning system to make sure it had the proper amount of coolant, etc., so I had appointment on Friday to get that done. The weather has been so iffy there was no guarantee it could be done. We had gone from warm, almost summery days, to cold days. The appointment was set for mid-morning in the expectations that the temperature would have warmed enough for the testing to be done.
That’s how it worked and I can now go into summer with the expectation of a good working air conditioner. Just before the service man left, he asked me about participating in their yard sign program. If I let them put a sign in my yard for two weeks, they’d pay me $25. That sounded like an awfully easy way to earn some money so I now have a sign in the front yard directing all who pass by to call this company for their heating and air conditioning needs.
