Reading Triggers Travel Memories

This week I’ve been reading several books by Rosamunde Pilcher. She’s an English author so her books are set in England, at least the ones I read were. I’ve made several trips to England. It remains one of my favorite travel destinations.

Usually when I’m in London, I use the Underground to get around. The last time I was there, though, I used the buses. As a result, I saw a lot more of London since I was on top of it instead of under it. When Ms. Pilcher mentioned various places or neighborhoods, I remembered seeing them from the bus.

During that trip I also traveled to Cornwall. Her characters also went to Cornwall and visited some of the same places. Reading about them brought back nice memories of my trip there.

When you read books set in places you’ve visited, do you also remember your own personal travels?
