Spring is taking a one step forward, two steps back approach. But gradually it is arriving in this area. I noticed today when I was out and about running errands that there are spring flowers out — and most of them are yellow.
Now why would this be? We have yellow dandelions, yellow forsythia, and yellow dandelions. Do you think the yellow flowers are to take the place of the sun which, too often, is still a rare visitor?
I did notice that some redbuds and dogwood are beginning to bud. That will add some variety to spring’s pallette with reddish-pink (redbud) and white or pink (dogwood) blooms on the understory trees. After all the rain we’ve had recently, I’ll take any spots of color we can get.
