Garden Plans

I’ve been thinking about what to plant in my big flower pots this year. These flower pots are my garden. I’ve decided against tomatoes. I’m tired of growing them for the squirrels.

I bought some lettuce, parsley and dill seeds and thought I’d try those this year. I understand lettuce is an early spring crop and probably should have been planted a couple of weeks ago. However, we’ve had so much rain that the soil in my pots is much too wet to plant in. I can’t quite see me holding an umbrella while I try to plant anything so my garden is languishing before I even get it planted.

Of course, Hessie Mayhew’s prohibition against planting before May 15 rings in my ears as I wait for the rains to stop.
