Today we celebrated Christmas. Most of us probably gave and received gifts. We may have even heard “Oh, it’s just what I wanted! This is the perfect gift. You couldn’t have given me anything I’d like more.”
But, sadly, some gifts might not have been received so eagerly. Those are the ones you will trudge to the store to return or exchange. Maybe you feel a little guilty about exchanging it but it just isn’t you, doesn’t fit, isn’t the right color, or you just plain don’t like it.
I know one gift you never have to worry about returning. The “wrappings” were certainly plain enough … just a humble stable in Bethlehem. But it was given with great joy. Choirs of angels – not one angel but a sky full — heralded the news to the shepherds who hurried to Bethlehem to see this gift. The Magi set out on a trek across hundreds of miles of desert to present their gifts when God sent His son to be our salvation.
Some families have to celebrate Christmas on some day other than Christmas Day. Their presents sit under the tree, waiting to be unwrapped. God still has His gift of salvation waiting for you to unwrap it. If you haven’t opened it yet, unwrap this gift from God through repenting, being baptized in Jesus’ name, and receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
It is the best gift you will ever receive. It always fits. It’s never out of style. It appreciates in value. It’s just what you want.
