What effects has the change back to standard time had on you? I know some liken the effects to those of jet lag. I never paid any attention to them prior to this year. But I do believe the change affects me physically. I noticed this past week that I’m ready for bed at least an hour earlier than I had been going to bed. I’m tired and almost anxious to crawl into my comfortable bed. I seem to be sleeping sounder as well. Could this be because we changed the time back to standard time?
In a way, it seems that clock time is arbitrary. Somewhere, some time, someone decreed that we would measure time in hours and count them from midnight to midnight. How was “midnight” determined? Is it truly the middle of the night, the middle of the hours of darkness? Could the day have as easily been determined to run from sunrise to sunrise? I suppose the fact that sunrise varies depending on where you live, to some extent, and the rotation of the earth, that didn’t seem practical. But the same factors which make the time of sunrise change would also make midnight change too.
It’s too much for my brain to ponder. I just know that I’m going to bed earlier and sleeping later since we turned back the clock.
