We don't have TV but listen to lots of radio, mostly Canadian public radio. Not many old time shows, but still an old fashioned form of entertainment, which I love.

One of the stations in the town where I used to live would do "revivals" of the old shows and serials. I particularly liked Lux Radio Theater. And I loved the episodes of the Jack Benny Show that I heard, I really like Jack Benny.

I'm not sure how old the radio shows have to be to qualify as "old," but I loved listening to the Cisco Kid when I was a child. I think that one was my favorite.

I sometimes think I'm reincarnated from the the 30s. I love all that went into making those times, the big band music, the radio as entertainment, the literature, the movies, the clothes. I love that most men, no matter what their station in life, wore a tie or a hat. I love the ease of urban living during that time. It must have been hell though, living during the depression.

Garrison Keillor probably comes close to the way radio sounded back then. The recordings sound poor, but I bet the broadcasts were clear back then. I like radio drama and comedy. There's very little opportunity to listen to it now, but I think you can find a lot of it on the internet. I like the Orson Welles dramas, not just war of the worlds but many of the mysteries from the late 30s or mid 40s. I don't care so much for serials like the Shadow or Lone Ranger.

digital editions of paper items help position these publications for reading on hand-held devices like Nook or Kindle. I personally would love to read a magazine or newspaper or any other paper publication on a reasonable handheld device. My only concern is that I want a true magazine, ie something with articles and ads and everything, not a stripped down version of what is found in print. I hope it happens. What publications do you read in digital format?

Like you I too am a writer of lists. usually if my list for the day is not all ticked off - so what? There's always tomorrow. I have just returned from an essential shopping spree and was so pleased with myself that
a/ I had rembered to take my list with me and
b/ I returned home with everything ticked off. :-)

Once everything was in its allocated place I discovered that I had not got the one thing that this whole thing was in aid of. I can't blame the list as it was not on there. Perhaps I need to start writing a list to remind me what to put on the daily list!!!!

I concur--there's just something so cozy about curling up with a magazine. Reading it at the computer is so different.

Personally, I tend to prefer "real" magazines; I prefer a paper format I can page through. I like being able to tear out recipes I want to try, or keep a stack of magazines next to my chair to flip through when I'm bored.

I also really enjoy opening up the mailbox and finding a new issue waiting for me.

Digital magazines can be very nice but they are just not the same.

I think maybe the "supplements will be banned" comes from concerns about the UK; apparently new dietary-supplement laws are coming there.

I really can't see it happening here; the whole "nutritional" industry is too huge and probably has too good of lobbyists.
