Yesterday I got an email from MetroTix advertising upcoming shows in various theaters in town. The one at the top of the list was titled Rock of Ages. I immediately thought of the old hymn:
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in thee …
A closer reading of the ad let me know this was not a religious show. Rather than the hymn, the title referred to rock songs “of the ages.”
Isn’t it interesting how phrases and words resolate with meaning, depending on our own frame of reference?
