I’m in search of breakfast ideas, specifically low carb breakfasts. I’m working on a weight management program with my doctor. We’ve identified one of my problem areas as being a love of carbohydrates which he would like me to limit. Breakfast is a prime area where carbohydrates play a significant role in the menu. The breakfast ideas I’ve enjoyed in the past have included cereal, toast, cottage cheese with fruit, eggs either poached or scrambled or made into an omlette. None of them are very low in carbohydrate, though.
Please share your favorite breakfast menu with me. I need some new ideas. The foods don’t have to be traditional breakfast items. In fact, the doctor recommends canned vegetable soup.
What about having cold poached chicken breast (or prepared some other way)? It could be cooked the night before or you could cook several ahead of time. Or fish? Some kind of cold cooked fish might work. (In Britain, kippers are a part of the traditional breakfast).
I don’t know. I’m probably not a good one to suggest because even if I were put on a low-carb diet, I’d try to save up all my carb “points” and use them at breakfast. I cannot face eggs before 9 am or so. Or else, I’d try to figure out some kind of lower-carb “smoothie” type thing and have that.
