My hat is off to those who write a daily blog! I love to read them but I just don’t think I’d be able to do that. So when I started to write Talespinner, I decided on a three times a week blog. I settled on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday as the days I would write. The [...]

A potpourri

Last night I received a great compliment! At my church, a variety of members are asked to write the devotional for the Sunday bulletin which is handed out at the end of the Sunday morning service. I’m one of those writers. As I was walking from the parking lot into the church for Bible study [...]
It’s started

The county where I live allows sales of fireworks. There is at least one fireworks stand at every exit on the highway. They are not allowed to actually sell anything until about three weeks prior to July 4. As soon as the stands open, the fireworks start. I sit here at my computer most evenings [...]
Potluck lunch a success

Today was the Knitters’ Guild’s annual potluck lunch. We held it at a new-to-us facility. Some liked it better than our “normal” place but I think I prefer the old one. Had a great turnout of knitters. Some were selling things but I didn’t go around to look at what was on offer. I really [...]

Success! After visiting eight (count them, 8!) shoe stores/departments, I finally have some new summer shoes. One pair is white and one is a beige color called wheat. They are both the same style. The heel isn’t as high as what I had hoped to find but after all my searches, I was just pleased [...]

Whenever I want to buy something and have the money to pay for it, I can’t find it. This was proven true again today. My sister and I went shopping. She had something she wanted to get for her daughter’s upcoming birthday and I was in search of a pair of summer shoes. We found [...]
Email mysteries

My email issues remain somewhat of a mystery. I’ve had two “live chat” sessions with my ISP provider trying to solve the problem of why email from my friend in New Zealand hasn’t gotten through. No matter what I tried from here, it didn’t seem to improve things. So I did the only thing I knew [...]
From generation to generation

I’ve been doing a lot of baby knitting this year because we’re in the midst of a baby boom at church. Last night I was talking to one of the new mothers and mentioned that her baby, Audrie, was born on my birthday. Mom commented that Audrie was also born on her great-grandmother’s birthday. So I [...]
Thinking about taxes

Today A and I attended a free financial seminar held at O’Charley’s. This one was offered by a tax service. I was pleased the information given was different from that offered at the usual free fianancial seminar. The focus was more on the tax side of retirement. We were offered a free one-hour consultation in [...]
My youth is disappearing

I’ve been struck lately by the number of entertainers dying. These are people who were popular when I was young . It appears my youth is leaving me! I had made a vow years ago that I would never be old but if these stars of film and stage and music, etc., keep shuffling off [...]
