Welcome to my blog. Come right in and visit for a bit. This is a new blog and I’m sure you’re wondering what you’ll find here. Can I admit I’m not sure? I expect to write a bit about life and knitting and maybe some travel. This is a new venture for me and I’m not sure how it will turn out.
I had an interesting experience last Tuesday which was election day. I was working as a poll judge. I had never done this. I thought I would have to go for training but was told that the expectations were for a slow day which would mean I could be “trained on the job.” Yeah, right. The polls open at 6 a.m. We had voters lining up at 5:45 a.m. wanting in to cast their ballots. Those early voters were just the tip of the ice berg. There was a constant stream of voters until 7 p.m. when the polls closed. We even had one voter show up at 7:45 because he thought the polls were open until 8 p.m. I’m thankful I had nice co-workers. One even called his wife and asked her to bring a thermos of coffee because I had hadn’t any before coming to work and was struggling to wake up. She did exactly that and even brought some cookies to have with it. He sure married a nice lady 55 years ago. We told him we thought he ought to keep her.
